winter longing

 

I know its time to gear up for summer, yet I can't help but long for the cold again. Something about crisp winter air makes my heart sing, and donning woolie layers and combining patterns and colours is so lovely. I guess you can take the girl out of Europe, but not the Europe out of the girl. I suppose in the meantime I will just have to keep browsing the winter lookbooks of beautiful designers like Primoeza

a thing called geek weather

As a result of this strange, inconsistent, cold, whimsical, crazy weather I have been increasingly prevailed to stay home, drink copious amounts of ginger and lemon tea, and do nothing but paint and draw. This means I am making tremendous headway on commissions and secret projects (not to mention my art history essays.). On the downside it has given rise to anti-social/geeky behaviour on my part. But nevermind that for now! Let me show you a few exciting new things. Like my new print and my freshly made facebook art page.

colours in the air

(the above two images I took last week. they show the winter chill we have been experiencing here in Adelaide, but also the hope blossoms bring of warmer days to come.)

Originally, I was going to start off this entry by excitedly sharing that I am today sending a small parcel of peachpatrol goodies to NY and Sydney. Yay! But then I got a wonderful comment by the superlovely Heleendb from Belgium saying that she wrote a little feature in her blog on the package she received from me/my etsy shop last week! Her post really warmed my heart, as well as the beautiful photos that accompanied her words. You can read her entry, so perfectly titled "Twilight Dancing", here.

In other news, the sun is ever so cautiously poking out its legs from under the clouds today, which is great news! Its been raining cats and dogs here so it is SUCH a relief to get a bit sun! I think I'll sit in the garden for about ten minutes to catch some all important Vitamin D energy before heading to the city to catch up with two lovely girlfriends. Hope you have some sun in your day too! x x

whites and pinks to escape the blues

I think over the last couple of months I have been really attracted to a certain colour scheme comprising of eggshell, peach and blue. Whether its in clothing, jewellery, stationary or whatever I go straight for these colours, and if they are combined I don't think I can say no! I am seriously considering purchasing the plate above by the wonderful owlcreekceramics. Its so lovely and festive. I simply can't help but be drawn to the positive energy and happy colours. Then again maybe I am just hoping to escape the winter drear by sitting at my computer and dreaming of warmer climates and more sensuous colours. Keep warm x x

frosty bright lights, afternoon delights

I have decided to really embrace the winter season and not be disgruntled by the fact that only a mere three weeks ago I was enjoying the summer sunshine with my man in Europe. So to celebrate this change of spirit I decided to feature Sally Scott's amazing

2009–2010 Autumn & Winter Collection, which has really captured my imagination about all the possibilities that winter has to offer. We may not have snow here in Adelaide, but our wind chill factor is certainly low enough to load up on the scarves and gloves! After Budapest, Germany is feeling pretty darn chilly. There is still some snow left over and many layers are still a must. The sun is actually starting to shine now, so I think I may go for a little walk, or "spaziergang" as they say here, loosely meaning "pleasesure stroll" and take some photos. Its nice to be back here. It feels familiar. Lunch, then walk. Yep.
