Here is a sneak peek at my coffin board for the upcoming exhibition They Won’t Stay Dead: The Pre-Walk Zombie Exhibition at Espionage Gallery. The show will open this Saturday night, before the famous zombie walk, 5- 7.30pm and will be open til the 29th of October. My concept for this work is pretty much a zombie girl nabbing a little bird and making a meal of it with its friend watching on in shock. I think I'll either call this piece 'A midnight snack' or 'An evening meal'. I am not sure which sounds better. Any votes or fresh ideas?
In the flurry of a creative spell, last night I created a most peculiar piece. I'm not sure what originally brought this thread of thought on, but the more I meditated on it the more I realized how much meaning there is in this piece. For me, it is inspired by the idea of energy being a visible force. Just think, if thoughts had colour, shape, sight, sound, smell - all these different sensory elements, then wouldn't we completely reconsider the way we life our lives? If beautiful, happy thoughts floated around us in the shape of pink and orange rosepetals, calling forth our most treasured memories and scents, would we not make the effort to think more positively throughout our day? .. well thats what I've been thinking about! And in this painting I represented this idea of positive thought as feathers floating through space. I think I will get a print made of this tomorrow. But I got excited and already put it up in my etsy shop under Birds of a Feather print.

It is the weekend following yet another busybusy (one 'busy' is simply not enough!) week at uni and in the studio, and at last I get to share the fruits of my labours with you. Firstly, I have added a new print to my store. It is a portrait of Miriam, or Miri and the Birds as I named the piece. It sounds more like a band name than anything, but I think its quite sweet. To achieve the dusty effect I wanted to emphasise the flurry of feathers and movement I used a combination of gouache and white pencil and rub-rub-rubbed until the desired vision took shape. Besides Miri there are a few other new things in store.Secondly I am very excited to be a featured artist on Art Hound, a fabulous curated space by Brooklyn-based blogger Kate Singleton. Her page is so clever and well designed, I could browse it for eternity!
